Long Beach Tennis Club's Grade 6 team has made the Tennis Victoria grade finals for the first time in years. This competition involved 39 different teams representing clubs across Melbourne. This number then was cut down to 20 teams for the section finals.
Last week the Long Beach beat a team from Heathmont Tennis Club in the section finals to make its way into the grade finals. This is at least one step better than last year where our Grade 7 team was eliminated in the section finals.
This week Long Beach plays at home against Whites Lane for a place in the quarter finals.
Come support our team for its last home game of the season on Saturday,20th August 2016 at 12:30pm.
Further details about the grade finals can be found here.
Major Works April - June 2016
Replacement of Fences on 4 courts & installation of new lights.
The Long Beach Tennis Club committee have worked with Kingston Council to have our fences and lights replaced.
We would like to thank the City of Kingston and particularly Mayor Tamsin Bearsley and Cr David Eden who responded to our urgent request to have the lights replaced after corrosion was identified. They also assisted the club in its endeavor to get the failing fences replaced.
We thank the Parks & Recreation Staff for keeping the club well informed regarding progress of the project. This has assisted us make alternative arrangements for competition matches during the period. We have been fortunate to have 2 courts still available for Social tennis, MWL Competition and Coaching. We are now looking forward to enjoying the use of our great courts again and the resumption of night tennis competition at our Club. The fences are looking good and we anticipate being able to use the all courts by the end of June. The installation of the lights are expected within a few weeks.
The Clubs AGM will be held on Sunday 28/8/2016 and when we plan to officially celebrate the re-opening of the courts.
May 2017: Work has now finished with our state of the art lighting and fencing. We enjoy perfect conditions for playing and a trouble free, automatic light sensored switch on all main courts for night tennis...Together with Long Beaches, online booking system and automatic entrance gate the public can now independantly book a court and play whenever they like.. More projects to come in the near future.
